NC310YW Steel (40SiNiCrMoV10)

NC310YW is a high strength steel used for parts subject to high mechanical and high fatigue stresses. For applications that are exposed to high contact friction, NC310YW can be carburized. Its high tempering temperature (300°C) enables carburized components to be surface coated, and it can also be used at high working temperatures (>150°C).

FOR REQUIREMENTS: High Strength and High Fatigue through hardening steel
MELT PRACTICE: VIM-VAR
ALT TO: 300M, Aermet 100, 310, & 340 and Maraging 250, 300, & 350
SPECIFICATIONS: AMS6499
40SiNiCrMoV10
UNS: K54015

Benefits of NC310YW

  • 10% Higher UTS than 300M
  • Excellent fatigue properties compared to PH Steels
  • Surface Carburizable
  • Less Expensive alternative to Aermet and Maraging Steels

Typical Applications

  • Transmission Shafts
  • Gears
  • Driveshafts/tripods (in Formula 1 cars)
  • Axle Shafts
